Text Box: Text Box: Text Box:          Scotia as she is known is named after a wonderful MacIntosh Apple called a Scotia Mac. We had a lot of fun naming this litter.  We held back on 2 puppies for a couple of months until we made further evaluations. Her full sister who lives with Jaunenoir Labradors was named after a Nova Spy apple.  Walks and play was lots of fun with the puppies as they learned basic skills.  Imagine calling Nova, Scotia, come!  There was many a smile, and sometimes I think my children thought I was bit crazed.  Anyway, Scotia stayed with us here at Applemeadow.  She has matured into wonderfully structured young lady who took the show ring by storm.  Starting and finishing her championship in 2 weekends is an almost and impossible accomplishment.  The competition was stiff but her effortless movement, lovely angles, and endless wagging was recognized by the judges.  One show she took best of Winners over 3 Male Specials including the #5 labrador in Canada.    She also possesses a keen retrieving skill, and excels in obedience.  Many times we were told from the sidelines of the conformation ring what a very pleasant focused dog she is.  We are truly blessed with an almost perfect labrador!
Scotia's has OVC Hip and Elbow certification, she has 8 week and annual eye clearances, and is our 4th - 100 percentile PennHIP dog from our breeding program.  For more information on PennHIP visit their website at http://research.vet.upenn.edu/Default.aspx?alias=research.vet.upenn.edu/pennhip , or call us for and explanation.
We are currently researching the possiblities for a litter spring 2010.   The litter will be Optigen Clear and will have full clearances.  If you are interested, I would not wait too long to call.
